Before you start your holiday please pay attention for following points:

 

Travel insurance
     Make sure that the insurance is up to date, valid for the entire trip, covers everyone who is travelling and all activities you want to do. Take the insurer's 24-hour emergency number with you.

Health
     If you have any chronic disease, contact your doctor before leaving and ask for advice. Find out a doctor or hospital at your holiday destination in case if it is necessary.
Make sure that you have enough of your daily medication and the description with you. Before you leave check with the embassy if your medication will be legal in the country you are going to or take a doctor's letter with you. For further information have a look at our Health Tips .

First-Aid-Kit
     Prepare a small first aid package with all necessary things just in case of need.
Put in disinfectant, bandage, plaster and some important medicines.

Necessary vaccination
     Take information which vaccinations are needed or provided.
Do this 3 months before you leave you home country.

Visa and valid passport
     Make sure that your passport is valid and find out about the immigration and custom controls of the country you are travelling to. Take the needed visa.

Driving
     If you are planing to drive, make sure that your international license is current and valid. You should be informed about the national driving conditions, requirements and laws of the country. Never drink alcohol or drugs if you drive.

For motorbike driving please take note of the following advice:

    • NEVER DRIVE WHILE YOU ARE DRUNK!
    • Always put on a safety helmet and other safety gear.
    • Switch on the headlights even during daytime.
    • Drive on the left side of the road.
    • Drive slowly, especially around curves, as the roads may be slippery.
    • Make sure your insurance policy covers motorbike accidents.

Important documents
     Take 1 copy of all important documents like passport, driving license and flight ticket and leave 1 copy of all documents with your family. If you can scan the documents and save in your e-mail account – they don't get lost or robbed.

Country information
     Find out important information about the country. You can get them of travel guide books, homepages of the country, embassies and tourist information. Don't forget to take information about the political and natural situation.

Luggage
     All important things please leave in your hand luggage, because sometimes the luggage get lost. Make sure that your insurance covers also your luggage and equipment. Don't leave your luggage unattended - wherever you are.

Money
     Take enough money, some back-up funds like traveller cheques and valid credit card with you. Before you leave find out how you can replace them if they are lost or stolen and take necessary phone number with you. At your holiday destination carry only as much money as you need for the day with you. Leave the rest and your credit card in the hotel safe.

Important data
      Make a list with important phone numbers and addresses like the embassy and local emergency service numbers in case you need them. You can download and print out some important phone numbers you may need while in Samui here.  

Safety
     Never carry packages of other people or go through customs with people you don't know. Pack your baggage by your self and don't leave it unattended. If you drive a car, don't borrow other people. Don't sit in someone else's vehicle when crossing borders, get out and walk.

Culture
     Respect local customs and behave and dress adequate when visiting religious sites, markets and rural communities. You are a guest there!

Nature
     Leave the seashells and corals where they are. It is not allowed to take them with you. Help to protect local wildlife and habits by respecting rules and regulations.
